  • What is the difference between a Licensed Clinician and an Associate Clinician?
All our staff receive specialized perinatal training and on-going education; however, some of our clinicians are still gaining hours towards their license (3000 are needed before they can get licensed!) while others are fully licensed and have a bit more experience. After graduating with their Master's Degree and while working on hours, a clinician is call an associate clinician. They work closely with a licensed and trained supervisor as they collect required hours and experience. This does not mean associate clinicians are inexperienced as they often have the most up to date training, passion, fresh perspective, and many of the skills as their licensed colleagues do. A licensed clinician is someone who has a Master's or Doctorate Degree, completed all required hours, and passed their state licensure exam. They can practice independently without supervision. *If you plan to use superbills, please note that some insurance companies will not reimburse for sessions with associate clinicians

  • What is a coach?
A coach is someone who serves as a guide and support throughout life challenges. Coaches create a safe space to support you as you identify challenges, work towards solutions, and gain insight into how to be the best version of yourself. A coach can help people in different areas of their life. At Dancy Perinatal, all of our coaches have master degrees and specialized training in how to best support families through the perinatal period. This will look different for each person. You and your coach will work together to create goals and find solutions so you can best achieve what is important to you. Here are a few examples of how our coaches can support you: Parenting Stress management Relational challenges Infertility support Postpartum transition Pregnancy concerns Reconnect to self Working mom Stay at home mom Finding balance Identity Exploration Navigating Changes
  • How is coaching different from therapy?
Coaching and therapy are both focused on improving a person's well-being, but there are distinct differences. Coaches work to support a person in personal and professional goals. Coaches are not able to offer mental health support, prescribe medication, bill insurance, or complete disability paperwork. There are also no state requirements for coaches like there are for therapists. To be a therapist, each state has educational and experiential requirements before providing mental health care treatment. Therapists can diagnose, offer specialized mental health care, bill insurance, and in some states, prescribe medication. Coaches focus on the present and future while therapy often includes looking back at past relationships and experiences. Coaches will support your growth and help you tap into your resources to accomplish the goals you collaboratively create.
  • How do I know if coaching is right for me?
Are you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, exhausted, worried, or stressed? Or maybe you are feeling lonely or struggling in your relationship? Do you want someone in your life who gets it and you? Coaching may be the perfect solution. Our trained coaches offer a supportive space for you to explore your wants and needs while helping you find a path forward. We know the challenges that can arise during the perinatal years, let us help you navigate through it. Coaching is not a substitute for mental health support. If you are experiencing suicidal thoughts or thoughts of harming others, struggling with substance abuse or an eating disorder, need medication monitoring, or are having trouble with daily functioning coaching is not enough and we recommend therapy first or in addition to coaching.

  • Why don't you accept all insurances?
Our first priority is ensuring that nothing compromises the care you receive. Each insurance company has their own rules, regulations, and reimbursement rates. Some companies are not accepting new providers, some have such low rates we cannot pay our clinicians a fair wage, and some we may be in the process of applying to or are planning to apply in the future.
  • Can I get reimbursement directly from my insurance provider even if you aren't in network?
Great question and I wish we could answer this for you. Each insurance plan (yes each individual plan!) has their own coverage. We've tried to help as much as we can so use this form and call your insurance provider and they can help you understand your benefits. We make it easy to download superbills in your client portal anytime you want. You are responsible for payment in full at the time of session. Coverage and reimbursement rates can vary drastically by plan and insurance provider so please make sure you understand all the risks, benefits, and costs associated with your specific plan.
